My life in Bali, an adorable guide book by Sandrine Soimaud

Travelling with kids to Bali?  This book by French author Sandrine Soimaud is a wonderful collection of well researched little stories that explain the Balinese culture for the little ones but grown-ups alike. We love the idea that the kids in the short stories  are not only western but also Balinese or Indonesian.
Did you ever wonder why we find the "nazi-like" symbol  on temple entrances? What is the morse-like Kulkul that exists for hundreds of years in the villages? Why so many Balinese are called Wayan or Made? Then this book is for you and your kids and a great travel companion for the daily bedtime reading or during waiting times in airports or ferry ports. It's also a good idea to read it before the trip and ask your kids to "sign-off" the individual cultural stories they have experienced themselves with their name and date on each page.

It comes in different languages and is available in Periplus bookstores throughout the island. We have read it, shared it  and we love it!
If you like to meet the author and understand her intentions in creating this lovely booklet, read her interview on Bali Advertizer.
