Arrival in Bali

Arrival in Bali's Ngurah Rai  Airport can be a bit overwhelming. I therefore like to share a few tips to make it a smooth coming "home".
  • Visa: 4 weeks 35 USD, ~350,000 Rp (payable in Indo Rp, SGD, USD, AUSD)
  • Alcohol import: 1 bottle per person - highly recommended to bring in as Alcohol tax in Indonesia is very high; easy to get at Changi Airport in Singapore
  • Local currency: get the money changed before in case you need some cash at the airport and for transport
  • ATM machines: outside behind the exit doors to your left
  • Recommended Airline from Singapore (in order) : Singapore Airlines (gets in first, less waiting at immigration), KLM, Quatar Airways
  • Budget Airlines from Singapore/Kuala Lumpur : Jet Star , Air Asia
  • Seat reservation : recommended : first 3 rows on the aisle to get out quickly

Get a seat in your airplane in the first 3 rows on the aisle, that's where the expats usually sit to get out in time, so make a reservation early
Singapore Airlines gets into Bali earlier than Jet Star and Air Asia, KLM etc, so less immigration traffic when travelling with SIA
In the plane: Fill in customs and immigration form and prepare 35 USD or 350.000 Rp, put the money into the passport (plus keep some small notes 2-10.000 in your pocket).
Get out of the plane as quickly as you can, pass by all passengers and reach visa payment counter FIRST
Get the 4 week Visa for 35 USD or 350.000 Rp and proceed quickly to the immigration lines to avoid long queues.
